The University of Delaware Police Department (UDPD) embraces the mission of providing quality law enforcement education to our regional law enforcement partners in the Middle-Atlantic region. This Training and Technical Assistance request continues UDPD Chief Patrick Ogden's history of identifying excellent contemporary law enforcement training by bringing Blue Courage training to our campus for state, municipal and local law enforcement officers.

The Los Angeles Police Department requests two Blue Courage Training courses for approximately 30 participants each. The Blue Courage training course will provide self-improvement, increased engagement, stress management, development of resilience, and improvement of the overall health and well-being of all employees in the department.

Stewart Bruce of Washington College will be engaged to apply subject matter expertise and serve as an active participant during the Violence Reduction Network meeting with Camden County Police Department. During the one-day meeting, Mr. Bruce discussed how the sharing of enterprise level offender data benefits the entire criminal justice community; show example data analysis products; demonstrate Maryland Offender Management System with IAP.

The Weare Police Department has [historically] experienced significant failures in leadership. Allegations of removing alcohol from the evidence room for personal use, supervisors brawling, fraudulent reporting of time worked, etcetera’s have plagued the agency and distracted it from its’ mission for a decade or more. The District of Columbia's Department of Forensic Sciences (DFS) is in need of assistance to provide technical training to approximately 10 CSSs and approximately 10 Firearms Scientists by way of a 40-hour introductory class on shooting scene reconstruction. By providing this training, participants should learn the practical methods associated with the documentation, collection, and preservation of evidence and data associated with ballistic events. Mock scenes or other hands-on experiential learning is recommended for this type of training.
