On-Site Study

The Los Angeles County, California, Sheriff's Department, as part of the Compton Violence Reduction Network (VRN) site, requested assistance to outline a strategic plan for violence reduction in Compton. Nola Joyce was selected to fulfill the request and conducted multiple site visits to organize strategic planning meetings to identify desired outcomes, goals, and planning strategies. The site visits occurred from July - September, 2016, and Ms. Joyce delivered the final strategic plan in November 2016.

The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections requested assistance in conducting a jurisdictional assessment of their RNR implementation and resource allocation. The request was denied by BJA and not fulfilled by BJA NTTAC.

The Chicago Police Department (PD), as part of the Chicago Violence Reduction Network (VRN) Site, is seeking an assessment of its crime strategy.

The New Orleans Police Department (PD), as part of the New Orleans VRN site, is requesting an assessment of its current crime analysis capabilities and crime analysis training to support command staff, crime analysts, other law enforcement executives in the development, utilization, and enhancement of crime and public safety analysis.

The Compton VRN site requires violence reduction strategic planning assistance.

The Detroit VRN site is requesting an assessment of its crime analysis capabilities and assistance in improving its ability to leverage current resources and improve its analytical products.

Howard County is seeking assistance to complete a work release program feasibility study. The scope of work will generally include: determining eligible participants; program requirements; staffing; community partners; available resources; facilities and financial analysis. The planning process will bring together the county elected officials, law enforcement and corrections, courts, education providers, non-profits and community leaders to identify the most effective and efficient work release possible.

The Flint VRN Site has requested an assessment of Flint Police Department’s (PD) evidence and property room policies and procedures and an evaluation of their property and evidence facilities.

The Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office is requesting assistance from BJA NTTAC for an on-site study to evaluate the county’s capacities to implement an evidence-based approach to crime prevention.

Spokane (WA) is seeking technical assistance to fulfill recommendation to conduct a staffing analysis to better assess their ability to implement community-policing strategies.
