Technology Implementation - Corrections

GAC members and partners met to discuss current and emerging issues in justice information sharing and integration initiatives, including ongoing Global priority projects such as the Nationwide Criminal History Records and Methamphetamine Abuses Associated with the Opioid Crisis projects. GAC members also took required Ethics Training through BJA.

Premier leaders and practitioners from across the justice landscape will meet for the Spring 2019 Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative (Global) Advisory Committee (GAC, Committee) Meeting at the Office of Justice Programs offices. To maximize resources and provide opportunities for Global engagement by an even greater range of subject-matter experts (SME), the majority of hands-on Committee efforts are conducted virtually.

The Mending the Rainbow Training was a 2 day on-site training to increase awareness of the issues faced by the LGBTQ2S community in the tribal justice System and what courts can do to make their court-rooms more inclusive. The training explored the history of LGBTQ2S people in Native American focused historic and contemporary contexts to help attendees become more aware of the population.

IIR staff members maintain regular contact with the chair and vice chair of the Global Advisory Committee (GAC), as well as with the Designated Federal Official of Global, to ensure that Global Executive Steering Committee (GESC) Planning Sessions are adequately prepared for, including arrangement of meeting logistics, development of meeting agendas, follow-up of assignments and action items from previous meetings, notification to membership of meeting logistics and agenda items to be discussed, facilitation of the meetings, documentation of meeting proceedings, and processing of reimbursem

NW3C staff attended the 2017 American Society of Criminology Annual Meeting. While there, NW3C assisted with facilitating a meeting of the Division on White-Collar and Corporate Crime (formerly the White Collar Crime Research Consortium and now an official division within the American Society of Criminology). NW3C also conducted a presentation on data breaches and the effect on state and local governments.
