During the MSU Researcher Practitioner Fellows Academy held in Lansing, MI, CSG Justice Center staff met with the team present: Dr. Baker, Matte Mathews, and Sherry Ballenger. Discussions centered around their new ATPromise Center opening August 1st. The team described the enthusiasm of the neighboring community for the Center to open. They are waiting on the P & I Guide approval. Other work includes bolstering community engagement on the Task Force. Dr. Baker shared press releases and other media about the Center’s opening.

CSG Justice Center staff met with project manager in DC, and discussed effective ways to manage up in the facility to meet the goals of the program.  Also discussed ways that she might structure her days, such as time outside the facility in order to build relationships with community partners and employers.  Julie has good instincts about what will be effective, so I tried to build her confidence through supportive brainstorming.

CSG Justice Center staff met with the planning team and program partner to discuss the planning process of the grant, evaluation plan with Rutgers University, and discussion of BJA requirements. Justice Center staff walked the grantee through the proposed narrative and facilitated a timeline, tasks, assigned staff, and deliverables.

CSG Justice Center staff and BJA conducted a desk audit and program site visit with consultant Aida Melton. Grantee was engaged in a fiscal review with BJA and a P&I Guide discussion with CSG to develop timetable of planning and deliverables.

CSG staff conducted a week long site visit to New Mexico to conduct one on one interviews with juvenile justice leaders, state legislators, system stakeholders, and youth.

CSG Justice Center staff conducted a site visit to New Mexico to officially launch the Improving Outcomes for Youth Initiative. During the site visit, a press conference was held with Secretary Jacobson and Justice Vigiil, the statewide task force met held its first meeting, and CSG staff conducted focus groups with juvenile justice stakeholders.
