In December, CSG Justice Center staff began the process of winding down implementation technical assistance to Georgia's agency leaders, with a focus on finalizing Georgia's Justice Reinvestment Initiative (JRI) subaward application and the data analysis for the Residential Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT) study.
In December, CSG Justice Center staff assisted state leaders with facilitating the second convening of the Act 423 Interagency Task Force; participated in meetings of the County Planning and Data Collection and Community-Based Crisis Intervention Issue-Specific teams; and continued to provide support to the Governor's office and Division of Aging and Adult Behavioral Health Services (DAABHS) with crisis stabilization unit (CSU) implementation planning. CSG Justice Center staff assisted state leaders in planning the second meeting of the Act 423 Interagency Task Force on December 14.
CJI is preparing to transition from the passage of the 7 legislative bills to implementation planning. The Letter of Interest has been submitted.
This TA consists of the engagement of stakeholders in OK as CJI works toward the passage of the legislation not passed in early 2017.
In December, CSG Justice Center staff continued to monitor subaward spending following the approval of a no-cost extension until December 31, and reviewed reimbursement reports submitted by ABPP and the Governor's Office for the previous quarter. The subaward extension allowed ABPP to continue spending down funds for two IT employee positions completing work on the response matrix application integrated with their offender case management system.
The first portion of this TA involved an initial site visit to the US Probation/Tribal Community Corrections reentry court program for Ute Tribe members on federal probation that are reentering the tribal community. Based the site visit and observations made of the current program and cultural resources and traditional practices in place, recommendations are being made to enhance programming. This phase of the TA will involve in-person training on Implementing Evidence Based Practices in Tribal Community Corrections.
