The goal of this training is to train law enforcement personnel to be able to offer support or psychological first aid to their fellow officers following a critical event.
This training-of-trainers covers the issues of law enforcement suicide prevention to include: statistics; the role of leadership; stigma and barriers to getting help; signs and indicators; depression; how to intervene and provide assistance to an officer in crisis. The students return to their agencies and provide awareness training to the staff.
The Chicago Police Department (PD), as part of the Chicago Violence Reduction Network (VRN) Site, is requesting assistance for a comprehensive community immersion program to rebuild trust between the community and law enforcement. The Chicago PD has requested the Policing at the Speed of Trust and Leading at the Speed of Trust hybrid train-the-trainer course to develop 13 law enforcement officers and 13 community members as training facilitators. These 26 facilitators, with assistance from FranklinCovey, will then train 100 law enforcement officers and 100 community members.
In May 2013, the Bureau of Justice (BJA), in partnership with the CNA Corporation, developed Managing Large-Scale Security Events: A Planning Primer for Local Law Enforcement Agencies (Planning Primer) to help guide local governments as they prepare for large-scale security events.
St. Louis VRN Site Blue Courage Academy Invitational Travel: BJA NTTAC funded two travelers to attend the Kansas City Blue Courage Academy, which consisted of a Blue Courage course and a train the trainer course.
The Newark Police Department (PD), as part of the Newark VRN site, requests the Blue Courage Academy for up to 30 participants. The Blue Courage Academy includes the Blue Courage: The Heart and Mind of the Guardian course and the Train-the-Trainer certification course. The Blue Courage Academy will provide self-improvement, increased engagement, stress management, development of resilience, and improvement of the overall health and well-being of all employees in the department.

BJA NTTAC provided travel for 3 officers from the Baltimore Police Department to attend the LAPD Crimefighters Leadership Conference. The conference topics included homicide investigations, predictive analytics, as well as numerous other topics around crime fighting.
