The Law Enforcement/First Responder Diversion and Referral Mentoring Initiative provides communities interested in starting diversion or referral programs the opportunity to learn from established or innovative programs that have shown success in meeting the treatment needs of individuals with a substance use disorder, and in some cases an overdose. Eight sites have been chosen to act as mentors for newer programs that are trying to establish a first responder diversion program.

Submitted a presentation proposal called “Combating Human Trafficking Using a Multidisciplinary Approach” for the Florida Human Trafficking Summit on behalf of the International Association of Chiefs of Police with the support of the US Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance. This proposal was not chosen for the summit.

IACP was invited as a subject matter expert to a group discussion on minor sex trafficking in the United States. They discussed offenders and investigations in the morning session, and focused on victims and services in the afternoon session.

A student journalist at Arizona State University's Howard Center for Investigative Journalism reached out to IACP regarding a story about Homeland Security Investigations' sex trafficking investigations. They interviewed the IACP Human Trafficking team on our training and published materials on sex trafficking. IACP also shared the Human Trafficking training keys to add to the publication.
