Waco Police Department reached out to request information regarding community violence intervention strategies and the ability to use ARPA funds for strategies. NCJA provided information on current ARPA allocation in TX as well as different CVI strategies for implementation.

Partnership with the National Association of County Officials (NACo) throughout this project as part of the equity program to include hosting virtual and in-person working groups to not only address equity in financing within criminal justice services but also raise awareness of racial and ethnic disparities (RED) by SAAs and county officials, strengthen state and local efforts to reduce the prevalence of RED, and elevate best practices for addressing RED by producing recommendations for ensuring equity throughout the budgeting process.

South Carolina Department of Public Safety is interested in using Byrne JAG funds to support Community Violence Intervention strategies and is requesting assistance from NCJA in language for solicitations and program implementation support. Meeting to discuss in more detail in January 2022. Met to discuss and have been suspended as SC determines strategic plan.

Tennessee Office of Criminal Justice Programs requested assistance to understand Community Violence Intervention Strategies so that they could determine if this was an area in which they would like to allocate Byrne JAG funding. NCJA provided them with information regarding different programming models including pros and cons of each model and the components they would need in order to make an informed decision regarding funding allocation

IACP facilitated a meeting between Dr. Herold and the site on 2/3/2021. During the call Dr. Herold offered to pass along some resources and IACP offered to send a link to a CPTED webinar, so community members and stakeholders can learn more. After the call, Dr. Herold's team sent IACP an original literature review with attached resources, that IACP passed on to the site.

The site requested Dr. Herold speak with their stakeholder group on violence reduction strategies. IACP sent the site CPTED and violence reduction webinars from Dr. Herold, and offered to facilitate a Q&A session with Dr. Herold and the site's stakeholder group.

Julie engaged the Chicago BCJI site coordinator in problem solving methodologies around problem businesses located in one of the project's hot spots. Julie has offered additional support in data gathering and analysis, however, the site has not yet finalized data collection from CPD and has encountered challenges around engagement of business management/owners. Ms. Wartell worked previously as a crime analyst with the San Diego Police Department.
