One way to promote a drug-free community is to increase awareness of the issue within the community. In this presentation, participants will gain insights into the rise of opiates and methamphetamines substances that have significantly impacted tribal communities. They will explore the detrimental effects of drug abuse on youth, learn to identify behaviors associated with substance misuse and understand the essential medical responses required in such situations.

According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health Tables, twice as many American Indians and Alaska Natives require treatment for addiction compared to any other racial and ethnic group.
