LISC was asked by Senator Gillibrand's office to take part in a webinar describing best practices in applying for federal grants and to share examples of school-based CVI program supports available (both grants and technical assistance). The webinar was hosted by the Senator's office and was attended by about 500 school officials throughout the state.

The North Carolina Governor's Crime Commission and Department of Public Safety were assigned to conduct research on existing programs, protocols, and best practices to address hate crimes in the state. They requested information and resources to tackle hate crimes comprehensively. As a response, NCJA provided them with a detailed list of resources on how to prevent hate crimes and how different providers such as law enforcement, schools, and community members can address them. The guide emphasized the importance of time in prosecuting and handling hate crimes.

SAKI social media accounts (Facebook and Linkedin) are maintained to share success stories, lessons learned and TTA tools for jurisdictions across the nation, looking to enhance their violent crime response.

The SAKI Website (sakitta.org) acts as a one-stop-shop for all informaiton and resrouces associated with the SAKI program. Updates include addition of new TTA resources, relevant news and events, and information pages of new SAKI grantees.

Seattle Police Department (SPD) requested TTA for a systemic problem they are having with rising overdose rates at permanent supportive housing units around the city. They asked for connections to existing resources for peer support, best practices, training, and technologies to prevent overdoses. Initial meeting occured 10/26, with Abby sending first round of resources to contact on 11/10. Kelle and Elizabeth are planning to meet with the Seattle contact at ASC this week (11/13).

On May 19, 2023, Brenda Williams, Clinical Director at the University of Washington Tribal Court Public Defense Clinic, contacted NAICJA seeking assistance with holistic defense. UW serves as the primary public defender of misdemeanors at the Tulalip Tribes Tribal Court. Tulalip is considering updating its court structure to include in-house public defense. Brenda attended NAICJA's Tribal Holistic Defense Roundtable Conference and was interested in sharing with the Tulalip Court Administration the concepts of tribal holistic defense as a model for change.
