At BJA’s direction, IIR and a team of SMEs conducted a pre-visit conference call and questionnaire and an on-site visit to conduct a nonfatal shooting and gun violence reduction assessment site visit to support the Baltimore PD’s efforts to reduce violent crime by reducing gun violence and enhancing its capacity to conduct comprehensive nonfatal shooting investigations. As part of this site visit, the SME team interviewed members of the Baltimore PD’s command, investigative, patrol, crime lab, crime analysis, intelligence, victim/witness, and training staff.

After receiving The Arc's Pathways to Justice Training in January 2019 under this grant, the Rockland County District Attorney's Office requested additional assistance developing a standalone training for legal professionals - an effort to ensure that prosecutors in the region remained informed on I/DD issues long after the Pathways training. Although the training content wasn't finalized during the grant period, The Arc joined Vera for an assessment call to learn more about the office's second request for assistance.

Discuss debrief for the Sexual Assault Unit Assessment final report

Review inventory certification forms for each of the three proposed phases and send to BJA for approval and subsequent release of funds.

Assist NC DOJ with developing victim notification protocol and materials and review them before sending them to BJA for approval.

Discuss SAKI TTA conducting a sexual assault unit assessment in Cleveland in 2019.

RTI will conduct a SAU assessment in the Mobile Police Department to examine the processes and procedures in place for investigating and prosecuting sexual assault cases?including the use of victim-centered and trauma-informed practices. These voluntary assessments are conducted in partnership with jurisdictions to provide an independent, comprehensive review of the sexual assault investigative process?both within and outside of the law enforcement domain. The assessments have three components: 1. A review of sexual assault policies and procedures; 2.
