PDC is seeking assistance in developing best practices around vertical representation (continuous representation for the life of the case). PDC would like to determine best ways to collect data and track vertical representation across the state, learn what areas need to be improved, and educate stakeholders on the benefits of successful vertical representation practices.

Assist Jefferson County with submitting their partially tested inventory for review and approval by BJA.
Victim advocate reached out to ask about SAEK testing and the necessary laboratory requests before a SAEK can be fully tested. Ruthie and Pattie traded several emails and eventually got on a call with advocate, determining that as long as a request for a standard has been made, testing may proceed immediately. Only the request is standing in the way of the testing.
CJI staff traveled to Lincoln, Nebraska to support the three co-chairs of the CJRWG in facilitating the final Working Group meeting. At this meeting, the policies options that were discussed in each of the three subgroups were reviewed in the full group setting. The Working Group deliberated and reached consensus on a number of policy options. The options discussed will be released in a report in the new year, and will be used to inform legislation that is anticipated for introduction in the 2022 legislative session.
