On two occasions, SEARCH staff assisted the Starkville Police Department with information concerning a stolen Sony PlayStation gaming console. Staff provided the requester with three documents that outlined the circumstances in which Sony Entertainment could obtain an IP address for the console, how to serve legal process on Sony Entertainment, and how to trace the IP address back to the stolen console.

SEARCH staff assisted the Lynchburg Police Department with locating legal contact information for Yandex, a search engine serving Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Turkey. taff conducted research and located a phone, fax, and postal address for yandex.com, and provided it to the requester.
