SEARCH staff assisted the Office of Constable Silvia R. Trevino, Pct. 6, Housing Division (TX), with information concerning a stolen Sony PlayStation gaming console. Staff provided the requester with three documents that outlined the circumstances in which Sony Entertainment could obtain an IP address for the console, how to serve legal process on Sony Entertainment, and how to trace the IP address back to the stolen console.
SEARCH staff assisted the Jamestown (KY) Police Department with information concerning a stolen Sony PlayStation gaming console. Staff provided the requester with three documents that outlined the circumstances in which Sony Entertainment could obtain an IP address for the console, how to serve legal process on Sony Entertainment, and how to trace the IP address back to the stolen console.

SEARCH staff successfully provided assistance to an investigator with the University of Texas Medical Branch on identifying a person of interest in a sexual assault investigation. SEARCH staff was able to locate online dating profiles and walk the investigator through the steps to replicate finding this information. Also, SEARCH staff provided techniques that could be used to find the profile identification number for each profile, thus giving the investigator a unique identifier that could be used on these profiles for legal purposes.
SEARCH staff assisted the Lafourche Parish (LA) Sheriff's Office with information concerning a stolen Sony PlayStation gaming console. Staff provided the requester with three documents that outlined the circumstances in which Sony Entertainment could obtain an IP address for the console, how to serve legal process on Sony Entertainment, and how to trace the IP address back to the stolen console.
SEARCH staff successfully assisted the New York County (NY) District Attorney’s Office in completing Facebook and Instagram searches. The specific target had a private Instagram account, but by identifying the username of the account Google searches were able to be completed that showed other public Instagram photos, videos, and slideshows where the target was 'heart-ing' a photo or making a comment. Some of these photos contained the target of the private profile.
