Host Conference

This conference is a regional in-person conference hosted in Athens, Georgia with the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia. The conference highlighted various topics to improve the prosecution of capital and capital-eligible cases. APA provided assistance with space rental, A/V, and other associated costs, and additionally provided travel/lodging/per diem for out-of-state presenters.

SAKI TTA hosted the 6th Annual National SAKI Grantees Meeting virtually for all current SAKI grantees on October 20-22nd. This three-day event focused on forensic genetic genealogy, controlled communication, investigative techniques, prosecuting cold case sexual assault and featured a workshop on ViCAP.

Provide technical training assistance to develop a mission, vision, and values for this new office including connecting subgrantee with mentors, field experts, and other resources aimed at creating a holistic defense.
January - June 2022: Conducted monthly meetings and set a conference date of November 17-19, 2022. Contracted with National Association for Public Defense to assist in developing an agenda, recruit speakers, and content.

The Taking the Call Virtual Conference brought people together from across the U.S. to delve into how jurisdictions are serving as laboratories for innovation to ensure that emergency calls receive the appropriate response. The virtual conference explored how communities are working to build more comprehensive crisis systems including the opportunities and challenges of emerging community responder models and whether or how the approach may improve community health, lessen the burden on law enforcement, and reduce unnecessary justice system contact.

The NRTAC staff was invited by IACP to participate virtually and in-person for the 2021 Annual Conference held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Unfortunately, the in-person conference was canceled due to Hurricane Ida, but the NRTAC panel recorded its presentation for the field via Zoom. The NRTAC panel consisted of three subject matter experts who presented on strategic and innovative community engagement and prevention efforts implemented as part of effective gun violence reduction strategies.

BJA-supported COSSAP grantees from across the country convened on November 16-18, 2021 in the fight against America's opioid crisis. Altarum developed and facilitated three sessions for the COSSAP National Event, and hosted a grantee spotlight session with the following grantees:
• Anabelle Cadena, Program Specialist for the City of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
• Coralee Schmitz, Chief Operations Officer and Annette Redding, Director of Peer Support with Rimrock Foundation in Billings, Montana.

Altarum developed and facilitated three sessions for the COSSAP National Event, and hosted a grantee spotlight session. The third session was entitled "PRSS in Practice: Tailoring Peer Support to Unique Practice Settings."
