Host Conference

An integrated and comprehensive week of memorial activities that honor the memory of the officers lost in the line of duty, and building the basis for law enforcement survivors to understand ways they can begin to rebuild their shattered lives. C.O.P.S. Survivor's Conference includes over 70 counseling and debriefing sessions facilitated by professional counselors and peer support staff each year.

In this program, Training & Technical Assistance is provided by partner coaches with The Moss Group, Just Detention International, and Activating Change. Employees of the partner agencies act as coaches to facilities and agencies who have received BJA grants in FY 19, FY 20, FY 21, and FY 22 for Implementing the PREA standards, protecting inmates, and safeguarding communities. Coaches provide guidance on developing an implementation guide for the use of awarded funds, budget approval, and technical assistance related to the PREA standards and their implementation.

PSP received approval from DOJ to proceed with hosting the PSP Violent Crime Reduction Annual Summit that was held on December 12—14, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was the largest summit since the onset of VRN/PSP and the first large-scale event hosted by BJA since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. More than 400 participants attended the 2 ½ day conference, which was comprised of multiple plenary sessions as well as more than 130 breakout sessions that were selected by the PSP sites.

Rather than hosting a COSSAP conference this year, BJA called on all COSSAP TTA providers to develop and disseminate various educational products to be disseminated to the field throughout the month of September 2022. Altarum secured and collaborated with SMEs in the field of peer recovery, along with other TTA providers to produce 5 toolkits and 5 Champions of Recovery videos (1 for each week of Recovery Month).

The IACP planned, marketed, and hosted the BCJI FY21 Grantee Virtual Meeting. The IACP provided a post-meeting packet with publications and other resources.
