This session provided attendees with strategies to engage family members beyond the person experiencing incarceration to set the stage for successful reentry. Individuals do not exist in isolation, whether they are a parent, child, sibling, aunt or uncle, grandparent, or other family member of origin or choice. Grantees can collaborate effectively with community partners to treat the whole family, allowing families to break the intergenerational cycles of trauma that often result in criminogenic behaviors, substance use, child abuse, and neglect.

This quarterly networking session focused on recent federal policy changes that present new opportunities for enhancing reentry practices through Medicaid and CHIP. This session included a presentation, small group discussion, and Q&A.
