We are seeking assistance in developing and implementing a program to target the violence, drugs, and disorder in the Bayside area of Portland. This area is home to the city's social service network to include a homeless shelter, resource center, soup kitchen and other social service agencies. The problems that are currently plaguing this neighborhood are preventing shelter clients from obtaining the assistance they need and are negatively impacting the lives of residents and businesses in the area.
We are seeking assistance with the purchase of course materials - 100 participant kits @ $89.50 per kit for a total request value of $8,950.00. Our first goal is to be able to receive enough money for 100 kits (each kit costs $89.50) with assistance from BJA. Our second goal is to get enough officers trained in Blue Courage so that it becomes a part of the Nevada POST standards for law enforcement officers.
BJA requested that Dr. Edward Maguire prepare and deliver a presentation at the 2018 IACA Training Conference workshop, “How Crime Analysts Can Use Evidence-based Approaches to Support and Evaluate Violence Reduction Strategies,” in
Newport Beach, California from September 17 – 21, 2018. With BJA NTTAC support, Dr. Maguire prepared and delivered a presentation at the 2018 IACA Training Conference workshop, “How Crime Analysts Can Use Evidence-based Approaches to Support and Evaluate Violence Reduction Strategies” in Newport Beach, California from September 17 – 21, 2018.
Stewart Bruce was selected to fulfill the request and delivered the final report on October 1, 2018.
Chicago Police Department requests
Chicago Police Department (PD) requested on-site and remote technical assistance from Joan Brody to develop a FFY18 grant strategy, identify new FFY18 public and private grant opportunities, and provide guidance on approaches for future grant submissions. The requestor withdrew the request.
The Memphis, Tennessee Public Safety Partnership site requested a holistic assessment of the Shelby County, Tennessee District Attorney’s Office (SCDAGO) and a report detailing recommendations and best practices in the following areas: office organization and structure; office culture and environment; case processing and quality of work; and training and evaluation. Under a previous SOW, the Prosecutors Center for Excellence conducted three site visits to SCDAGO and identified additional data to assess, stakeholders to interview, and processes for enhancement.
NTTAC funding for 4 regional SLATT trainings.
Pamela Cammarata was selected to fulfill the request and provided meeting facilitation from August 28 – 31, 2018. Ms. Cammarata delivered a final report to South Texas College in September 2018.
BJA NTTAC issued a request for proposal and selected Force Concepts as the provider. Force Concepts developed the training curriculum and facilitated a train-the-trainer session for Newark PD staff members in October 2018.
