News post published on CJI's website to promote the implementation of a peer support group model with the Tennessee Corrections Institute (TCI), aiming to improve wellness among the state’s jail staff. The post states that the program will pioneer strategies to help jail staff increase job satisfaction, reduce stress at work and home, and minimize employee turnover. Looking ahead, the post advertises that peer support model is a novel one, and, if effective, may serve as a model for other jurisdictions hoping to better support their corrections staff.

CJI was invited back to the state to continue implementation of the new curriculum, developed to assist with implementation of requirements from Assembly Bill 236 (AB236), Nevada’s 2019 landmark justice reform legislation.

In October 2022, the Pittsburgh (PA) Bureau of Police participated as a pilot site for the delivery of the Crisis Response and Intervention Training (CRIT). The CRIT is a 40-hour training program designed to prepare police officers in their response to people experiencing crises related to behavioral health (BH) conditions and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Burlington Police Department Lieutenant Glen Mills attended the SLATT 2022 Webinar conducted on February 23, 2022. The webinar provided an overview on the SLATT Program to include the suite of training courses, webinars, resources, and technical assistance. Pursuant to the webinar, Lieutenant Mills requested a presenter for the New England Crime Analysis & Intelligence Conference to be held in Plymouth, MA on May 9 – 13, 2022. The conference is a joint effort of the Massachusetts Association of Crime Analysts and the New England State Police Information Network (NESPIN) RISS center.

Learning Objectives:
1. Staff will be able to explain unique stressors across different correctional settings.
2. Participants will be able to identify how their peers manage stressors and learn about staff wellness programs from other agencies.
3. Staff and agencies will be able to advocate and advance wellness programs to honor and value front line staff.
