Update:
In November, CSG Justice Center staff presented to the Joint Committee on Corrections and Juvenile Justice Oversight in Topeka, Kansas. The presentation included a summary of Kansas’s JRI project, progress regarding implementation, and recommended next steps for sustainability.

In October, CSG Justice Center staff continued to socialize the guidelines and engage key partners in the field, further developed outreach strategies and project next steps, and began planning the introductory webinar. Throughout the month, the project team continuously met with internal CSG Justice Center colleagues, including the Communications team, to discuss the introductory webinar presentation, webinar Communications plan, review of the self-assessment tool, and further development of the outreach strategy.

In September, CSG Justice Center staff, along with expert consultant Dr. Sarah Desmarais, continued to work on socializing the guidelines. The project team continuously met with internal CSG Justice Center colleagues, including the Communications team, to discuss project deliverable status and development, focusing primarily on the introductory webinar presentation, webinar Communications plan, review of the self-assessment tool, and further development of the outreach strategy.

Analysis Area 1: Facilitate a cross-system data match between DHHS and county jails to identify the overlapping population of people who have behavioral health challenges who move through local criminal justice systems and identify high utilizers of both systems. CSG Justice Center staff will conduct an in-depth descriptive analysis of the matched Medicaid claims data to provide information on trends in services accessed in the community by people incarcerated in each participating jail.
