Evaluation feedback from 13 individuals completing the on-demand virtual “Homegrown Violent Extremism Threat to Law Enforcement: The Jesse Hartnett Survivor Story” was positive. All student indicated that they were satisfied with the course and agreed or strongly agreed that the information was useful, it increased their knowledge, was relevant to their current jobs, they would apply what they had learned and would recommend the course to others.

Evaluation feedback from four individuals completing the self-paced, online ePROTECT training course was positive. All student indicated that they were satisfied with the course and agreed or strongly agreed that the information was useful, it increased their knowledge, was relevant to their current jobs, they would apply what they had learned and would recommend the course to others. Students noted that all of the course material was “pertinent” and appreciated that the course information was geared to the “patrol level.”

On January 14, 2025, an electronic "SLATT Chat–Key Resources for Law Enforcement” was distributed to more than 3,400 law enforcement and criminal justice practitioners. The publication was prepared in the wake of two New Year’s Day events to include the tragic vehicle ramming in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the car explosion in Las Vegas, Nevada. SLATT Chats are developed and disseminated to support and assist law enforcement and criminal justice practitioners with a range of resources designed to address terrorism and targeted violence prevention.

Training flyers were developed, disseminated, and published on the www.slatt.org website to promote and enable registration for two upcoming webinar deliveries and one in-person training event. The webinar flyer was also provided to two national law enforcement associations for further distribution to its members.

During the month of January 2025, the IIR Information Technology team completed two enhancements to the www.slatt.org website, as follows: (1) quarterly security scans were conducted; and (2) the new carousel with banners was completed and published to highlight training courses on the SLATT online eLearning “Training” page. As part of this enhancement, the “Learn More” button directs users to the IIR LMS where they initially must sign but are automatically directed on subsequent visits.

Lawyers have begun to experiment with artificial intelligence to streamline their case review processes. However, doing so brings risk for lawyers due to confidentiality and attorney-client privilege issues. This webinar brought together a representative of WestLaw to demonstrate their new technology and a nationally known ethics expert to discuss the concerns lawyers should grapple with before using AI for case work.
