In August, CSG Justice Center staff continued internal exploration into tool development and technical assistance (TA) opportunities to assess macro-level policy implications, operations, and workflows for specialized caseloads and to enhance NJSPB?s capacity to use data to improve outcomes.?
?Correspondence with NJSPB this month was done via weekly email check-ins due to NJSPB August vacation schedules.?

In December, CSG Justice Center staff met with the WY deputy administrator of Field Services to obtain buy-in for the project and receive feedback on what metrics should be prioritized in the tool. CSG Justice Center staff learned the needs of the Field Services Division regarding data and focused on continuing to build a rapport with the WYDOC Research team. CSG Justice Center staff also worked on a memo to BJA to explain the project shift from New Jersey to Wyoming and outline the new project plan to develop a tool by March 31, 2024.

In August, the project team made significant progress on hiring resident corrections analysts. CSG Justice Center staff continued interviewing potential resident corrections analyst candidates for placement at the Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections (LADPSC). ??
In partnership with CSG Justice Center staff, Arizona State University successfully hired two resident corrections analyst candidates for placement at Wyoming DOC (WYDOC) and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.??

In September, the project team welcomed Maeve Blake and Joseph Llanes as the two resident corrections analysts for placement at Wyoming DOC (WYDOC) and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), respectively. As part of their onboarding, CSG Justice Center staff held kickoff meetings with both agencies to introduce their resident analyst. Resident analysts began onboarding activities at their respective state agencies, including completing required training and obtaining access to technology structures.??

In November, CSG Justice Center staff continued working to hire a resident analyst for the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections (LDPSC). CSG Justice Center staff began interviewing four potential candidates from the third hiring pool for the role.?

In July, CSG Justice Center staff continued to socialize the guidelines and engage key partners in the field, further develop outreach strategies, and update language to be used for rolling applications for technical assistance (TA). CSG Justice Center staff also submitted the draft of the presentation to be used at the APPA annual conference in August 2023 and identified project next steps.
CSG Justice Center staff reviewed self-assessment tool submissions and produced results pages for each past respondent, which the team will use for further outreach.

In August, CSG Justice Center staff continued to socialize the guidelines and engage key partners in the field, further develop outreach strategies, update language for rolling applications for technical assistance (TA), present at conferences about the guidelines, and identify project next steps.
TA applications for the national guidelines project will be available on a rolling basis. Edits are being finalized to the language and will be shared with BJA for updating.
