LISC lead a breakout session on reducing school violence through partnership during 2023's STOP annual conference. Addressing community violence inside and outside of schools requires a unified approach, which leverages the experience and expertise of community partners as well as school staff and administrators. During this breakout session, participants will be exposed to two organizations partnering with schools to implement the safe passages model and the Richmond, VA, League for Safer Streets Initiative.

The event serves as an opportunity for COSSUP grantees to further the goals of the Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Program to support effective local, state, and tribal responses to illicit substance use in order to reduce overdose deaths, promote public safety, and support access to treatment and recovery services in the criminal justice system.

The CSG Justice Center continued conversations with Indiana about creating a task force and what the vision and goals are for that initiative. Staff also worked with them to identify more specific goals around Reentry 2030 and to host a reentry commission meeting Spring 2024.

CSG Justice Center staff presented to the Connecticut Reentry Collaborative to discuss Reentry 2030 and hear from local reentry roundtables on the current work. The group also had facilitated discussion to address the following questions:
What are some of your successes and what is needed to bring these successes to scale in your communities and across the state?

What are the remaining challenges that individuals are continuing to face upon reentry?

What are your current strategic priorities to strengthen reentry?

CSG Justice Center staff met with additional agencies and stakeholders, which Director McGrath recommended to the team. During that meeting on July 12th, the team discussed reentry and economic mobility challenges and goals. Another call was held on October 5th with the governor's office to discuss the initiative and Colorado's interest.

In December, CSG Justice Center staff finalized the hiring for the resident analyst for the LDPSC. The new?analyst, Chelsey Wright, will begin work on January 16, 2024.
Additionally, CSG Justice Center staff rescheduled the RCA learning retreat from this month to early 2024.?Despite the rescheduling, CSG Justice Center staff gave two presentations to the RCAs on risk-need-responsivity and best practices for correctional systems and correctional user perspectives.

In July, CSG Justice Center staff focused efforts internally on identifying exploratory research questions for the preliminary stages of tool development. In early July correspondence with NJSPB, CSG Justice Center staff shared problem scoping questions from the research team to assist with product scoping, and throughout the month, there were developments regarding potential avenues for developing the tool.
