The PRSSMI supports organizations or jurisdictions interested in sharing implementation expertise about or incorporating peer recovery support services (PRSS) into their portfolio of substance abuse intervention and treatment strategies. It promotes networking and program-to-program learning among organizations that are implementing PRSS in criminal justice settings. This opportunity provides an exchange of promising approaches, best practices, and evidence-supported services to enhance the capacity of organizations to develop and/or improve their own PRSS programs.
JFA Team and the TTA Client will work towards addressing the underrepresentation of racial, ethnic, and other minorities on juries in St. Louis County, MN by conducting both qualitative and quantitative assessments of the jury system, developing a public education campaign for businesses and the general public on the importance of jury service, and educate court stakeholders on the importance of diverse jury pools.
Worked with the National Advocacy Center to deliver online workshop. This makes up for the FY2018 and FY2019 workshops that were cancelled.
The Urban Institute serves as the main point of contact for the Justice Reinvestment Initiative for potential sites. In that role, Urban monitors a JRI email address, through which it fields questions from potential JRI sites. Urban also responds to media inquiries and general questions from academics and practitioners about JRI.
Drug endangered children are part of a very large, and growing population of children whose lives have been seriously and negatively impacted by dangerous drugs. Thousands of these children across our country go unnoticed and do not receive the necessary care and treatment to heal from these abusive environments. If ignored and left unsupported these children continue to be victims caught in a cycle of drug abuse.
Examine the relationship between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and substance use, with an emphasis on research specific to tribal communities and youth. Discuss the confounding effects of social economic factors and ethnicity-based differences in prevalence rates. Review culturally enhanced treatment options for ACEs. Explore specific strategies for caregivers, prevention specialists, treatment providers, criminal justice professionals, and community members.
