On Tuesday, June 14, from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC) will host the webinar "Tips for Reporting on Training Performance Metrics". The webinar will review the performance metrics associated with training engagements in the BJA Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Reporting Portal, and offer tips for entering training activities and reporting training performance metrics thoroughly and accurately.

Please join the Smart Policing Initiative (SPI) for the webinar, “Using Randomized Controlled Trials in Criminal Justice” on Wednesday, June 8, from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. ET. This webinar will introduce participants to the basic principles of experimental research in natural (non-laboratory) settings. Participants will learn about when randomized controlled trials (RCT) are an appropriate research option, the advantages and disadvantages of experiments, implementation and analytical issues, and ethical and practical considerations.

The Institute will kick off with registration, a welcome reception and introductions on Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. From there, the Institute will run each day from Monday - Friday, beginning at 7:45 a.m. with a networking breakfast. Most days, the Institute will get out each day between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., depending on the activities of the day. Friday, however, the Institute will finish by 1:00 p.m.  In addition, there is a Thursday evening plated panel dinner with guest panel members, which will take place from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. 

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (NTTAC) is hosting a webinar on a cost-benefit analysis model for the criminal justice community. All interested criminal justice professionals are encouraged to participate.

On Tuesday, March 29, the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) announced that $14 million will be available in grant funding in order to address and reduce violent crime through programs focused on methamphetamine use and production, and the distribution of heroin and other opioids.

Join NCCJD as we delve into the stories that created statewide movements to pass legislation impacting people with disabilities in the criminal justice system as either suspects or victims of crime. Over the past two years, NCCJD has been compiling a database of such legislation in order to help criminal justice and disability professionals understand this issue from a national viewpoint and get an idea of what type of legislation is being passed and why. A brief overview of current findings will be discussed by NCCJD’s Program Manager.

Please join the Smart Policing Initiative (SPI) on Monday, December 14 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. ET for the “Criminology 102: Busted Myths in Criminology” webinar. This webinar will identify ten public misconceptions about criminal justice and will discuss the evidence that disproves these misconceptions. The webinar will also examine how the research evidence can lead to data-driven solutions.

On December 14, 2015 from 2:00 to 3:30 PM (Eastern), the Smart Policing Initiative (SPI) will present the webinar "Criminology 102: Busted Myths in Criminology". This webinar will be presented by Dr. Scott Decker, SPI Subject Matter Expert and Foundation Professor at the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Arizona State University. The past two decades of research have challenged many conventional assumptions about crime and criminal justice.
