Minnesota SAA reached out regarding an ERPO statewide coordinator job description example using Byrne SCIP funds and asked if any other states had incorporated this. NCJA connected Minnesota with the Maryland SAA who is funding local agencies to develop the role and hire someone and sent an example of their grant application that includes a description of what the role should encompass.
Shared example sub-recipient scorecard examples from other states with the Nebraska SAA's office.
PA SAA's office reached out asking for examples of states that are using SCIP dollars to fund safe storage devices and/or awareness campaigns for suicide prevention. We provided them with this information.
Received a question from the CA Office of State Public Defender regarding if Byrne JAG funds going to state entities. NCJA clarified that some states choose to allow competitive JAG funds to go to state agencies, such as indigent defense commissions, however, it is entirely up to the state and isn't a JAG requirement, it's a policy determined by each state.
Sent outreach to states that were missing their strategic plan or annual report and that may have withholdings placed from BJA. Forwarded updated strategic plans/annual reports from states to BJA to update their records.
New Mexico SAA reached out regarding subaward approval letters to DOJ and if there is a special condition associated with the “request to DOJ for subaward approvals”. NCJA sent over example subaward letters from other states who recently had their subawards approved.
The Michigan SAA reached out regarding the Project Zero Eyes program and asked to be connected to any other states who were using this program through their subawards. NCJA connected the Michigan SAA with the Montana SAA and the Sheriff's Office implementing Project Zero Eyes.
The SAA out of American Samoa requested assistance in the development of a stakeholder needs assessment survey for their upcoming JAG strategic plan. Specifically, they requested help in developing the questions, formatting the survey and analyzing it on the backend. In conjunction with the SAA, NCJA staff designed a stakeholder survey and the AS SAA distributed the survey on November 20, 2024. The survey will close on February 28th.

Specifically, they requested help in developing the questions, formatting the survey and analyzing it on the backend. In conjunction with the SAA, NCJA staff designed a stakeholder survey and the DC SAA distributed the survey on November 8, 2024. The survey closed on December 23rd with 33 responses.
