The Regional Information Sharing Systems (RISS) Program, with support from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, supports local, state, federal, and tribal criminal justice entities by offering various resources to enhance law enforcement efforts. For example, RISS helps facilitate cross-agency collaboration through the RISSLeads Investigative website. Through this platform, law enforcement officers can interact with one another across jurisdictions to share investigative leads, information, or other issues.

Attend IACP’s Webinar “Multidisciplinary Information Sharing in Anti-Human Trafficking Task Forces”

Enhanced Collaborative Model (ECM) human trafficking task forces are a prime example of how a wide spectrum of governmental and non-governmental agencies can work together to help bring traffickers to justice, help survivors heal, and raise education and awareness in communities. Sharing information across disciplines is vital to the success of each task force; however, it can be challenging to navigate the information sharing policies of each agency and balance the need for collaboration with the need to maintain legal, professional, and ethical confidentiality standards.

Law enforcement agencies must sometimes respond to unexpected and harmful deviations from their intended goals—arresting the wrong suspect, causing injury or damage during a police pursuit, shooting unarmed suspects, or other events considered organizational accidents. This conference examined the issues faced by law enforcement in these situations.

Rap Sheet Summary Group (RSSG) was approved to bring 6 or 7 subject experts together for a small in-person drafting session to discuss the proposed rap sheet summary data elements that resulted from a survey of law enforcement respondents.
