Rap Sheet Summary Group (RSSG) was approved to bring 6 or 7 subject experts together for a small in-person drafting session to discuss the proposed rap sheet summary data elements that resulted from a survey of law enforcement respondents. The RSSG’s focus was to recommend the data elements (ex. crimes, offenses, and other data fields) as the initial/standard set to be filtered from criminal history records into a one page summary report. In June 2019, the survey results were analyzed, and a draft report of the recommended data elements developed and vetted through the RSSG. The group determined that further discussion was needed to evaluate each data element to determine if the element was consistently and currently available in each state for filtering into a summary sheet. Therefore, the RSSG reviewed each of the survey recommended elements to ensure they’re consistently available in all states. This group finalized the technical requirements for the exchanges.
