"Objective 5: Place data analysts in residence at State DOCs to increase the utility of data for decision-making while also building the corrections analyst workforce.     In April, the RCA continued codebook review and reworking the dashboard. CSG Justice Center staff reviewed the codebooks for errors and noted any gaps in data documentation. Additionally, CSG Justice Center staff provided suggestions to make the data visualizations more readable to the user. Lastly, the RCA began phasing into the third component of the project, data fusion and exploration.

"Objective 5: Place data analysts in residence at State DOCs to increase the utility of data for decision-making while also building the corrections analyst workforce.    In April, the WVDCR RCA continued developing two dashboards. The first focused on retention and recruitment and incorporates data from monthly employment reports. In addition to the retention and recruitment dashboard, the team continued to work on the monthly performance dashboard covering key metrics for all four bureaus.

In March, CSG Justice Center staff continued to support analysts in Wyoming, Louisiana, and California. In California, the RCA made progress cleaning the protocols and developed a fact sheet based on data from the dashboard. The fact sheet was approved by BJA on March 4 and is now with the state’s Council on Criminal Justice and Behavioral Health (CCJBH) for internal review. In Louisiana, the RCA continued to become familiar with the Corrections Information and Program Record System (CIPRS), learning SQL, and project planning.

"In February, CSG Justice Center staff continued to support analysts in Wyoming, Louisiana, and California. In Wyoming, the resident analyst continued her progress on the dashboard, meeting with several more internal stakeholders with updated prototypes. In California, the RCA continued their progress on the protocols and provided data for a fact sheet. CSG Justice Center staff have been taking the lead on drafting the fact sheet to ensure clear messaging and impact.
