NCCJD Director was invited to be co-editor for an The Univ of Minnesota Institute of Community Integration's IMPACT publication focused on people with I/DD in the criminal justice system. She both served as co-editor and co-author for the publication.

NCCJD was invited to speak on a panel at a National Council on Disability (NCD) and United Cerebral Palsy sponsored meeting whose purpose was to facilitate conversation on policing reform and the disability community. The goal was to gather information and resources to inform NCD’s 2017 policy project on how to transform the policies and practices related to engagement with First Responders. This conversation included experts in criminal justice reform, disability rights advocates, policymakers, law enforcement organizations, and individuals personally impacted by state violence.

OSF requested NCCJD to attend this international meeting in London to share innovations on access to justice for persons with disabilities within the U.S., as well as ways that NCCJD or the U.S. is capturing and documenting learning and knowledge with regard to access to justice, outlining specific successes and challenges in doing so.

NCCJD provided a one-hour webinar for chapters of The Arc to hear about NCCJD updates, as well as policy and program updates related to the topic of people with I/DD in the criminal justice system.

October 24th – 26th: Problem-Oriented Policing conference will be taking place in Tempe, Arizona. LISC sent representative from Flint, MI site through mini-grants program.
