In January, TLPI sent them an initial welcome letter that included a poll to schedule a virtual kick off meeting, provided a questionnaire to identify T/TA priorities, and provided information on the upcoming CTAS Orientation and Emerging Issues Conference.

TLPI will fund speaker, TLPI Consultant, Dempsey Harvey Navajo Nation Peacekeeper Program Coordinator, to present on Navajo Nation Peacemaking Court for the 5th Annual National Tribal Judicial and Court Personnel Conference on October 21 - 24, 2024 for the workshop: Returning to Hózhó: How Peacemakers Restore Harmony and Balance through the Navajo Peacemaking Program.

Alyssa Harold, Wellness Court Specialist at TLPI, emailed Catherine Retana, Tribal Law Specialist at TLPI on 3/22/2024 about a TTA request from Chippewa Cree. They brought up that they are struggling with their reentry program because the state and federal governments will not sign an MOU agreement. They would like ideas and support for that process! Catherine Retana shared our Tribal State Collaboration Series publication and the HTWC Intergovernmental Collaborations. This could be a potential topic for tribal state court forums as well if there is an active forum in their state.

Alyssa Harold, Wellness Court Specialist at TLPI, emailed Catherine Retana, Tribal Law Specialist at TLPI on 7/15/2024 about a TTA request from Little Traverse Bay Band in response to the October 2023 Supreme Court Memorandum on PSC Transfers indicating that state courts are no longer able to do shared supervision for treatment court cases, and jurisdiction must be fully transferred. The memo made no reference to Tribal Nations.

TLPI had a Tribal TTA providers meeting with BJA, Tribal Judicial Institute (TJI) at UND, NTJC/NJC, NCJTC, and RurAL Cap on April 23, 2024 to discuss the 2025 American Indian Justice Conference. Potential dates are (May or June 2025). Potential locations nad bidding process discussed . Potential site is Sky Ute in Ignacio, CO.

TLPI has monthly calls/outreach with Tribal Judicial Institute (TJI) at UND and National American Indian Court Judges Association (NAICJA), as sub awardees on this award, to discuss grantee TTA, TTA workplans, and TA reports, and additional award deliverables. TLPI also has monthly check in with CJI to discuss resources to be add to TribalJustice.org.

TLPI funded speaker, TLPI Consultants, Linda Sue Edgar and Wayne Edgar, Chickasaw Nation Peacekeepers, to present on Chickasaw Nation Peacemaking Court for the 2024 American Indian Justice Conference on July 31, 2024 for the workshop: Promising Practices in Peacemaking and Peace Circles

TLPI funded speaker, TLPI Consultant, Judge William Thorne, to present on Tribal-State Collaboration and relevant resources for the 2024 American Indian Justice Conference on July 30, 2024 for the Plenary #1: Our Sacred Trust: How Tribal-State Collaboration led to Greater Protections for Native American Children.
