During the January–June 2017 reporting period, the PM-ISE requested IIR’s support in the development of the National Network of Fusion Centers (NNFC) Center of Best Practices (the Center), as a community of interest (COI) on HSIN-Intel and built on the original Center of Analytical Excellence COI concept, which was funded under Award Number 2012-D6-BX-K009. As a part of this effort, IIR increased its support to and coordination with the NNFC Center Working Group, NFCA Executive Board members, and the HSIN Mission Advocates to map out the overall Center concept and begin building the COI in HSIN-Intel. The working group met on June 6, 2017, in Sandy, Utah, to further develop the NNFC Center COI, alongside the Mission Advocates. The mission of the Center is to leverage a diverse representation of experienced fusion center directors, intelligence analysts, federal partners, and subject-matter experts for the purpose of defining and documenting the existing efforts and accomplishments across the NNFC to continue to mature and sustain this critical asset that supports national security and crime reduction.
