Center staff had two planning calls to define the scope of work (one on 9/20/16 and one on 12/6/16). The tentative plan is to convene a strategy session in April or May 2017; develop the tailored curriculum in June and July 2017; and deliver a department-wide training in September 2017. Center staff also collaborated with department leadership about presenting at the national conference for the American Probation and Parole Association in January 2017.
Center staff members Emily LaGratta and John Butler conducted a 1.5-day visit on May 8-9, 2017 to four probation offices to conduct a focus group with line staff, as well as senior leadership, as well as tour the facilities.
Center staff created a report that outlines recommendations for next steps, likely to include necessary training and policy changes within the office. Local staff provided feedback on the report in the following weeks via phone and email.
