In this web-based training program, participants learned, the nation’s foremost mitigation expert, not just what we should be presenting in mitigation, but how to ask open-ended, non-judgmental, culturally relevant questions to elicit a life-affirming narrative. Scharlette Holdman, who taught us to present a multigenerational social history that includes an understanding of trauma, mental illness, family dynamics, culture, race, and resilience, will share her interviewing strategies so that your mitigation investigation situates the family in the epic sweep of history and geography; uncovers stories of intergenerational transmission of trauma that family members learned at the knee of grandparents and elders; reveals resilience in the face of overwhelming stress; and convinces the jury to support life for your client and his family.
Please check the box next to the following questions if the answer is 'yes'.
