CHJ connected with requestor following CHJ's 4/27 webinar "COSSUP Webinar: Program-Based Strategies for Opioid Diversion in the Fire and Emergencies Services." Requestor asked for more information on MOUD induction in the field by paramedics. CHJ is reaching out to NASEMSO to set up a call with requestor on this topic. TA request: "I would love to learn more about the resources, organizations, and resources that exist around MOUD induction in the field. I work with our local Opioid Taskforce and am trying to find out more information about evidence based interventions to treat overdose and substance use disorder."
7/13/23 CHJ and NASEMSO met with requestor to discuss EMS and deflection, and MOUD induction in the field. Sent a follow-up email with the following resources: COSSAP Webinar with NASEMSO: How EMS is Impacting the Lives of Overdose Patients in North Carolina; COSSAP First Responder Deflection Mentoring Initiative with link to Stanly County EMS as potential mentor site; COSSAP Pathways to Deflection Case Studies- Active Outreach; The Six Pathways: Frameworks for Implementing Deflection to Treatment, Services, and Recovery; The Deflection Conversation Framework: A Community Engagement Tool for First Responders
10/11/23: CHJ and NASEMSO met with requestor and a group of the requestor's colleagues across fire and EMS. CHJ presented an overview of deflection and COSSUP TA available to them. NASEMSO provided an overview of EMS and deflection. Following, the virtual meeting, CHJ sent resources including: a recording of the presentations, a PDF of the slides from the presentations, Report of the National Survey to Assess First Responder Deflection Programs in Response to the Opioid Crisis, information-sharing guidelines developed by the Legislative Analysis and Public Policy Association (LAPPA), First Responder Deflection Resource Library, How EMS Is Impacting the Lives of Overdose Patients in North Carolina February 2023 (NASEMSO Webinar), case studies on each of the six pathways of deflection, and information regarding the COSSUP First Responder Deflection Mentoring Initiative.
