JAN-JUNE 2016 PROGRESS UPDATE: SEARCH staff worked with DHS and SAFECOM members during scheduled conference calls and webinars, and reviewed and commented on documents in order to promote Global and information sharing as they relate to communications interoperability and the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network. Staff traveled to Jacksonville, FL on May 26-29, 2016 and participated in the Joint Meeting of SAFECOM and the National Council of Statewide Interoperability Coordinators (NCSWIC). The meeting was attended by nearly 200 participants that worked on policy and technical initiatives related to public safety communications. Staff also worked with a team of information sharing experts on a Department of Homeland Security, Science and Technology working group to develop an information sharing assessment tool that will allow agencies to assess their continual progress in governance, standard operating procedures, technology, training and education, and usage to share information. The working group held conference calls every two weeks and two face to face meetings in Washington DC (May 17-18, 2016 and June 22-23, 2016) to develop the assessment tool.

JULY-DECEMBER 2015 PROGRESS UPDATE: SEARCH staff worked with DHS and SAFECOM members during scheduled conference calls and webinars, and reviewed and commented on documents in order to promote Global and information sharing as they relate to communications interoperability and the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network. Staff traveled to Norman, OK on November 2 - 5, 2015 and participated in the Joint Meeting of SAFECOM and the National Council of Statewide Interoperability Coordinators (NCSWIC). The meeting was attended by nearly 200 participants that worked on policy and technical initiatives related to public safety communications.

Staff traveled to DC to work with fellow DHS S&T information sharing working group members on developing an assessment tool, document best practices and discuss information sharing needs in the public safety area for incident management, both planned events and response scenarios.

Staff regularly participated in SAFECOM activities including: reviewing the public safety information sharing assessment tool for the DHS S&T Information Sharing Task Team; reviewed and edited SAFECOM amendment to the system life-cycle planning guide; and, reviewed various outreach and educational materials for the SAFECOM community regarding ICAM. Staff also participated as a panelist in a ICAM webinar. Due to staff turnover, SEARCH participation has been reassigned.
Staff regularly participated in SAFECOM activities, including the SAFECOM working group and membership meetings in May 2018, and technology and policy committee conference calls and meetings.
