• Tribal Law and Policy Institute program specialists Kris Pacheco, Jordan Martinson, and Precious Benally provided a virtual onsite training to the Nez Perce Tribe HTWC team Dec 7-9, 2021. Training Topics included the following based on an initial consultation with Kenton Beckstead. Additional training topics included:
• Healing to Wellness Court Team Roles and Responsibilities, Team Dynamics and Program Entry-Intake and Eligibility best practices.
• Program document review
o Assess entry criteria (well written in policies and procedures)
o 3 Points of referral well laid out in policies and procedures (arrest, post adjudication, participant application)
o Distinct qualifying and disqualifying factors
• Overview of HTWC. Why have a healing to wellness court? History of healing to wellness courts
• Tribal Ten Key Components
• HTWC Team Roles and Responsibilities
• Responding to Participant Behavior
• Selecting the right participants; legal considerations
o Case study risk need assessment exercise
• Phase Development
