SL requested an update on the site's partially tested SAK inventory plan and the site let them know that they were still drafting it, but would be submitting a new certification form for the previously untested SAK inventory for review. SL reviewed this certification form and site sent it for BJA review. The site had a few questions about the partially tested SAK inventory including: If there is a forensic sample entered into CODIS from the case does any additional testing need to occur (even if the sample entered into CODIS is not from the sexual assault kit)?
State of NC responded to SL's monthly check in email asking the following question regarding their partially tested SAK inventory: For the previously untested kits we had to give an explanation for why the kits weren’t tested. As for the partially tested kits is there other data that will be requested to be provided on those kits? We’d like to know this up front so that we are tracking the appropriate data from the beginning. We are aware that we must track any hits resulting from any partially tested kit identified. Is there anything else that is required to be tracked?
The SL responded that the site is required to collect the same data metrics for the partially tested SAKs as the unsubmitted SAKs, and received no further questions.
Check in with site on their progress. They discussed wanting to have their law enforcement trainer provide direct assistance to jurisdictions in the state and submitted a proposal for this to BJA which was approved.
