Chris sent a check-in email to follow up on a request from BJA regarding issues that grantees may or may not be experiencing with ViCAP and to confirm that SAKI TTA has the main ViCAP POC for the site on file. Chris also inquired about serial offenders that the site may have identified as well as a summarization of efforts or success stories.
Chris also asked how the partially tested SAK inventory process is going and offered to assist if they have any questions at this point.
Mary responded that they are working diligently on the partially tested SAK inventory and don't have any additional questions at this time.
She mentioned that they are also very happy with the work their team has done to date. Tanya Poret confirmed their ViCAP POCs and said they don't have any issues with ViCAP entry so far.
Mary mentioned that they have identified many serial offenders and noted that SAKI TTA has those success stories on file.
Chris and Pattie held a check-in call with the Orleans Parish team and discussed a multitude of items relevant to their project.
Chris debriefed them on the latest round of edits on the BJA inventory certification process and Mary's team will work on them and resubmit as soon as they are able.
Mary and her team mentioned that they loved the Assembly of Cities training and were happy to be part of the brainstorming process up front. They specifically enjoyed the survivor panel and are looking forward to future events. They enjoyed the vulnerable victims presentation as well.
Mary mentioned they have been hosting monthly MDT meetings, but sometimes more frequently if they need to discuss a case. They are also hosting trainings for their MDT as well. Recently, they had the SANE program come in and discuss working with victims and how to interact with victims of traumatic events. Next month, they are also sending their ADA's to the LSP crime laboratory to meet DNA analysts and get training on DNA, the use of DNA reports, and expert testimony.
Lee responded that while they are not entering cases into ViCAP, the Albuquerque PD is. Lee mentioned having attended the ViCAP training at last year's Grantees Meeting and having two investigators on her team that would be the ViCAP POCs if they had access to the system. They do not currently have access.
Lee mentioned they have identified several serial offenders, in conjunction with Albuquerque PD. Some offenders are directly involved with SAKI cases and some are not. They are also working on developing a case using Forensic Genetic Genealogy to arrest an individual that is linked to 3 SAKI cases.
Chris followed up with a few items to assist with Genealogy investigations that SAKI TTA has on the website. Two webinars with case studies and the Cuyahoga County Ranking Sheet were included.
