The NCVC PSN TTA team hosted a training for the FL-S PSN team focused on trauma-informed investigations and prosecutions in domestic violence (DV) cases in the nine counties in the
southern district of Florida. This training will be led by the National Center for Victims of Crime and the CNA Institute for Public Research.
This training will provide attendees with the following:
1. An understanding of foundational trauma neurobiology, DV dynamics, and best practices for
collaborating with and complementing local DV service providers;
2. Practical skills for trauma-informed policing (to include trauma-informed interviewing and
investigations and victim and witness cooperation and support); and
3. In-depth knowledge of innovative strategies for trauma-informed prosecution of DV cases,
including (1) improved prosecutorial DV investigations, (2) solutions for charging cases without
relying on victims and witnesses of DV, and (3) available and relevant federal DV statutes.
