Grantees implementing Overdose Fatality Reviews (OFRs) through the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Abuse Program (COSSAP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) are invited to participate in the May OFR Community of Practice (CoP) conference call. The purpose of the CoP is to allow OFR coordinators experienced in implementing OFR case reviews to strategize with colleagues in a virtual, collaborative environment, learn and exchange ideas, and share lessons learned and tips. The May CoP will feature a presentation from representatives of the Legislative Analysis and Public Police Association (LAPPA). LAPPA is responsible for conducting legal and legislative research and analysis and draft legislation on effective law and policy in the areas of public safety and health, substance use disorders, and the criminal justice system. During the May CoP call, the LAPPA representatives will provide an overview of the online toolkit, discuss questions and scenarios posed by practitioners regarding the sharing of protected health information, and review specific areas of interest. There will also be a question and answer period.
