“Meeting with Victim Families” was a webinar that focused on how to be the best advocate possible for the victims of capital crimes and their families, with emphasis on building effective, empathetic relationships with these families and guiding them through the judicial process. This presentation included resources for prosecutors dealing with such capital litigation cases, which were provided at the time of the webinar. The presenter of this webinar was DA Bill Bunting of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg District Attorney's Office in North Carolina.

Scheduled a phone conference call in which we outlined the parameters of the webinar training, went over the timeline for preparation, and confirmed availability, dry run date, and required materials.
This was the first webinar with BJA NTTAC in which we were using the new Adobe Connect platform. Therefore this dry run lasted about 45 minutes and involved downloading and familiarizing ourselves with the presentation software. Our presenter tested out his Powerpoint presentation to make sure that it worked, and our BJA NTTAC coordination walked us through the webinar from start to finish.
Our presenter provided an outline which he referenced in his presentation. We made this available for download ahead of the webinar so our attendees could have it available beforehand.
This outline is available for download at the following link: https://www.apa-inc.org/initial-family-meeting-outline/
The goal of this milestone was to collect the presenter's finished presentation deck, to be supplied to BJA NTTAC for accessibility compliance before the webinar itself. We also added a slide containing information about the grant before submitting the deck to NTTAC for review.
Future plans include providing this and other Capital Litigation webinar Powerpoints as online and downloadable resources for prosecutors. APA is currently working on the best mechanism to make these resources available online.
