Chris reached out as part of a check-in to ask about the success on a Lawfully Owed DNA case that CCPO recently received. BJA was informed that the first "Owed DNA" conviction under SAKI had taken place in Cuyahoga County and wanted to see if they had any press on the conviction.
Rick replied to Chris and mentioned that this was actually the second conviction they had received on Lawfully Owed DNA cases and that they were holding on media at this time to release it with a few other media-worth bits.
Chris and Rick chatted as part of a monthly check-in regarding the Assembly of Cities. Rick provided some good feedback on the topics and the logistics. He would have liked to see the conference be a little more intimate and to potentially include an "executive" session where leaders from the original sites (Cleveland, Portland, Memphis) could meet and discuss some of the outlying topics from prior meetings. He also mentioned that they are looking for a site to host next year's conference and New Orleans has already expressed interest. Chris will check with SAKI TTA team and circle back with Rick about locations for next year's AOC.
