On September 12, 2017, Chief Cynthia Kennedy at the Nebraska Crime Commission initiated contact with the NCJA Senior Policy Advisor, Carol Poole, about the Strategic Planning TTA Project following publication of an article in the NCJA newsletter, Justice Bulletin, about training and technical assistance available to states to help states meet new Byrne JAG strategic planning requirements. On September 14, NCJA staff responded with information about training and technical assistance options and followed-up again on October 28 to discuss local needs.
On November 2, NCJA staff held a planning call with the NE SAA team to discussion previous efforts, and to plan a series of meeting in between November 17 and January 2018. NCJA staff requested a copy of the new strategic plan once it had been drafted. On November 26, the NE SAA team noted that it had begun work to identify funding priorities and would be soon drafting their goals. They requested to follow-up with the NCJA in the spring of 2018 as they began to draft their strategic plan. On May 4, 2018, the NCJA discussed with the NE SAA team items within the JAG plans that would be reviewed and could be enhanced through regional trainings (one to be held in July in Ft. Worth and one to be held in September in Minneapolis) The SAA responded on May 7 that they would like bring their VOCA plan to update and review. (The NE SAA did not attend these trainings). The SAA team sent an inquiry on June 3, 2019 regarding upcoming strategic planning training event in Richmond, VA.
