The COAP Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) collaborative is comprised of several organizations, each bringing contributing areas of expertise and responsible for different tasks in the furtherance and support of COAP grantees, BJA leaders, and – ultimately – communities across the nation battling the opioid crisis. To coordinate these range of activities and strategize for the new year, representatives from all the TTA providers convened with BJA leaders (including representatives from BJA’’s Policy and Programs offices and the Performance Management Team) at the Office of Justice Programs offices in early December 2018. The objectives of the meeting were as follows:
• Convene COAP TTA providers and BJA policy and performance measurement staff members to discuss a refined and targeted approach to COAP TTA planning, delivery, and assessment.
• In consideration of the site-based screenings, identification of project activities (self-reported by FY2017 and FY2018 project leaders), and other feedback, develop a structure and plan for delivering outreach, training, and resources to the sites.
• Explore additional methods (beyond required performance measure reporting) to collect site-based data to facilitate assessment of TTA activities as well as strengthen support for COAP projects.
• Develop a master schedule of Year Two COAP activities, including webinars and virtual meetings, face-to-face site-based meetings, and recorded site visits.
• Refine and enhance intra-TTA collaborative, site-specific, and public-facing communication strategies.
• Looking ahead: Discuss the future of COAP for 2019 and beyond.
IIR provided the full range of TTA support including developing and transmitting the meeting invitation; coordinating logistics; developing the agenda and handout materials; providing on-site support, subject expertise, and meeting facilitation; documentation of the proceedings; and advancing action items and tasks arising from the discussions.
