NACDL and its partners offer ongoing technical assistance to capital defense teams who attended Bring-Your-Own-Case (BYOC) programs conducted under the Capital Case Litigation Initiative (CCLI). This technical assistance leverages topics covered during the BYOC programs, surfaces topics that are needed in future training programs, and helps NACDL and its partners track and monitor trainee teams’ case status.

NACDL will send attorney and mitigation specialist subject matter experts to the Maricopa County Public Defender Capital Unit to train the entire office (including newly hired staff) on best practices in mitigation. The training will focus on trainees' existing cases and utilize the Bring-Your-Own-Case (BYOC) model to the extent feasible.

This training program will utilize the Bring Your Own Case (BYOC) model to provide needed training to capital defense teams, as well as provide the basis for ongoing technical assistance. The combined defense team will work with a faculty of leading experts on issues directly relevant to the defenders' training needs. The agenda is developed in accordance with the BYOC model and tailored to the specific training needs of the trainees. The program will be preceded by a single-day train-the-trainers program for program facilitators.

On July 12, 2022, Center staff hosted an in-person site visit for Mark Dietrich, Vice President, and Nicholas Mansfield, Director of Legal Programs, at East-West Management Institute (EWMI). EWMI is a philanthropic firm that works to strengthen democratic societies by bringing together government, civil society, and the private sector – to build accountable, capable and transparent institutions. EWMI has many locations across the globe.

Center staff organized and hosted a structured virtual site visit to Midtown Community Court for the prosecutor at the Albany Works! Community Court from Albany, Georgia. The site visit included an overview of the court's history and operations as well as a discussion of the role of a prosecutor in a community court

In collaboration with the Resource basked held (4) Planning Meetings to locate venue, recruit presenters/trainers and secure dates meetings were held: June 9, 2022, June 16, 2022, June 23, 2022, June 30, 2022 on Teams Topic will be to have three (3) presenters from a youth Tribal Court Track and three (3) presenters from the adult Tribal Court Track. To include group sessions and opportunities for breakout sessions as well on the different ways circles are utilized in Alaska Communities and could be utilized or enhanced in tribal courts.

To disseminate information to tribal justice communities ATJRC is collaborating with WCPI to assist in the development and implementation of a Domestic Violence Simulator Program. ATJRC facilitated and held (2) meetings January 5, 2022 was a walk through session with Mr. Bill Humm and Mr. Brian Kauffman, Kimberly Martus and Caroline Lee to prepare for presentation to Alaska Partners and Domestic Full Faith and Credit Workgroup. January 19, 2022 meeting was held at 11:30 am to 1:00 pm with our nine (9) ATJRC Partners and twenty (20) Domestic Full Faith and Credit Workgroup invited.
