CJI will help Louisiana prepare to collect the performance metrics required by the legislature in the JRI bills.
In preparation for expected JRI savings, CJI will help Louisiana decide the best method for reinvesting those savings.
CJI will work with the state of Louisiana to train staff on new JRI practices.
In September, Utah’s JRI Coordinator reached out to CJI to request a combined version of the various trainings CJI has prepared for the state, in the hopes they could be used for new Probation Officers during their initial field training. CJI will create and provide combined trainings for the state.
In August, CSG Justice Center staff continued to provide information and technical assistance to the Commission on Sentencing, the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts, the District Attorneys Association and General Assembly staff around justice reinvestment policies and impacts. Policies related to sentencing, supervision, and governance changes were reviewed and updated by key stakeholders to prevent anticipated and potential implementation challenges at the local level.
Over the month of August, CSG Justice Center staff provided office-based technical assistance to support non-SCA grantees and projects. Staff conducted approximately 8 phone calls, 8 emails, 5 information requests, and 9 NRRC Helpline requests.
Grantee has been working on completing the planning and implementation guide. This discussion allowed CSG staff to review the edits being requested for the P&I guide, as well as a chance for the grantee to ask any outstanding questions. Discussions also covered any updates regarding the project and learning more about the evaluation plan from the research partner.
Grantee has been working on making changes to the budget to submit to BJA for approval. During the meeting, discussed some additional changes BJA requested and TA provider discussed possible ways to further detail the necessary changes in the budget, as well as discussion for further use of requested equipment. Additionally, TA provider discussed grant progress.
Grantee had questions about reporting in the PMT system for activity between Crisis Intervention/Behavioral Health Specialist and officers. Grantee to share questions with TA provider for review during planned PMT webinar in September. Discussions also covered any updates regarding the project and learning more about the Crisis Intervention/Behavioral Health Specialist's work with the staff, including trainings and services.
