Presentation on the integration of social work into criminal defense practice to both enhance the representation before the courts, as well as to the client. Using social work for more than just mitigation, but using and interdisciplinary approach to representation in order to achieve better life outcomes for clients.

Presentation on best practices for working with parents with disabilities in child protective matters. Using an interdisciplinary approach - social work and law - this presentation focused on the needs of parents with mental health and developmental disabilities who had interaction with the child welfare system.

Mr. LaBahn and Mr. Hood presented on Community Prosecution and diversion programs.

Mr. Hood and Ms. Thompson presented to attendees of the NNALEA training on Community Prosecution and Health and Wellness Courts.

n July 2015, the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (APA) received a request from the Delaware Department of Justice- New Castle County Criminal Division (DDOJ) to provide training and technical assistance (TTA) on the possible implementation of an intelligence-driven prosecution model, a geographic office-wide community prosecution program, as well as consultation on data integration and information sharing. Following the receipt of the request, APA worked with DDOJ to develop an agenda and to discuss logistics for the visit.

The Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (APA), in partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance, are gathering prosecutors from across the nation November 16th-18th in Washington, DC for training in the latest crime reduction strategies to make our communities safer.

Ms. McWhorter attended Doing Justice Executive Summit on Criminal Justice Reform, a summit sponsored by the NADCP.

Mr. Jansen participated in a conference call with Joseph Grubb of the Delaware Department of Justice regarding a potential TTA site visit to Wilmington, DL.

Mr. Jansen participated in a NAPSA (National Association of Pretrial Services Agencies) Workshop Planning call with representatives from NACo (National Association of Counties) and the IACP (International Association of Chiefs of Police)

Mr. Jansen attended and presented at the National Black Prosecutor’s Association Annual Conference.
