Objective 6: Provide intensive TA to 10 states, supporting the adoption and use of the Justice Counts metrics to drive decision-making.
Presentation at the Washington Administrative Office of the Courts Pre-Trial Summit 2024 alongside Justice Counts champion Leah Landon, (Criminal Justice Regional Program Manager for the Thurston County Board of County Commissioners) who presented snapshots of Thurston County data to introduce the project to other courts in Washington. (50 people representing 50 agencies).

Condition-setting is a fundamental responsibility shared by almost all Parole Boards. Conditions create a roadmap of supervision that guides the expected actions of the person supervised and the supervision priorities for the Parole Officer. This session discussed how Parole Boards can use their discretion in imposing conditions to promote supervision success and reduce failure.

Participants will hear from experts at the Health and Reentry Project (HARP) about the new requirements, learn about the next steps for implementation in jails and prisons, and learn how to support people during the transition from incarceration to community supervision. You will also receive information about upcoming new resources from HARP and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) to support implementation.

Objective 1: Individualized Technical Assistance to Grantees  In August, CSG Justice Center staff continued to meet with WADOC staff to discuss progress regarding the partnership with Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), who is expected to handle the legislative proposal for the Superior Court DV Court. YWCA is actively reviewing the draft proposal prepared by the previous partner.

Objective 1: Individualized Technical Assistance to Grantees  In July, CSG Justice Center Staff continued to meet with WADOC staff to discuss the status of the legislation proposal needed to implement the Superior Court Domestic Violence Program funded by SMART Supervision funding. WADOC held a meeting with the YWCA of Greater Portland in Spokane regarding the legislative proposal they are in the process of drafting and meeting with those who are backing the legislation.
