Local jurisdictions are simultaneously facing budget shortfalls and calls to advance community well-being, public health, and public safety. They can help respond to these urgent needs by building crisis care systems with support from state resources and lawmakers. To address this need, the CSG Justice Center hosted a virtual workshop in partnership with NCSL, Building Crisis Care Systems through State-Local Collaboration, with 39 participants across 12 jurisdictions.

During this reporting period, IIR organized two quarterly PSP virtual strategy meetings during this reporting period, in July and November. In preparation for these meetings, IIR developed the meeting agendas and prepared materials to assist in strategic planning for the program.

NCJA was contacted by Colorado to assist with re-engagement of the CO JAG planning board. As a result a survey is under development to gain stakeholder input.

Rhode Island requested assistance from NCJA in September of 2020 for the development of a stakeholder survey to assist with Strategic Planning efforts. Survey was developed and disseminated for feedback from RI staff. Feedback was returned in January 2021 and will be disseminated by February.

USVI has requested TA for developing a strategic plan in order to receive JAG funding for 2020. In addition, to assistance in development of a strategic plan, NCJA will also be assisting in the creation, dissemination, and collection of a stakeholder survey to better inform their planning process.

NCJA created and disseminated survey to stakeholders, analyzed results and presented to USVI LEPC staff. SAA changed from Ray Martinez to Angela Campbell. NCJA continues to reconnect with new SAA.

Cumberland County NC is starting a CJCC and has requested assistance with their strategic planning process and connection with their SAA. Several planning meetings were held with CJCC leadership and a outline of a plan was developed for their CJCC members. The first step outlined was a survey to help identify priorities for the work of their council. Initial outreach from the county occurred on September 10th, 2020. The first introductory meeting with the Deputy County Manager, Duane Holder was held on October 8th.

The 2020 Institute for State Criminal Justice and Public Safety Executives was held virtually on September 24, 2020. Hosted by the National Governors Association (NGA) and the National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA) in partnership with the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), the event brought together Governors’ criminal justice policy advisors (CJPAs) and state administering agency executives (SAAs) to discuss a variety of criminal justice and public safety issues, hear from federal partners, and share best practices.
